Gut health is central to the health of your hormones, immune system, weight and overall health.

Hormonal imbalances and autoimmune diseases, like Hashimoto’s thyroditis, skin issues, fatigue, brain fog and many other health issues can all be linked to your gut health.

Gut health is a big and popular topic in the world of alternative medicine.

Your gut’s basic role is to digest the foods you eat and then absorb what nutrients it needs from these foods, while excreting the rest.

When your gut is working properly, it forms a barrier that controls what gets absorbed into your bloodstream.

However, sometimes this barrier breaks down and starts allowing partially digested food, bacteria and toxins into the body.

This can then cause inflammation and your body to attack these unwanted intruders.

Further to this, it can also lead to what is called an autoimmune disease, such as Hashimioto’s thyroditis, not to mention various hormonal imbalances that it can result in.

Factors that affect your gut health

There are many reasons why you can have gut imbalances and these include:

  • Various gut infections,
  • Nutrient deficiencies,
  • Antibiotics,
  • Stress,
  • Toxic overload,
  • Unhealthy diet,
  • Alcohol consumption.

You also need to pay attention to your gut restoration if you have problems with your hormones.

How to restore your gut health

So what can you do to reverse your gut issues?

The answer is to remove the root cause or causes.

I know many people will start taking supplements to heal their gut issues, including a leaky gut, but what you really need to focus on is dealing with the actual cause of your gut issues.

So what is it that you need to focus on to improve your gut health?

  1. Removing the foods that can cause inflammation.
  2. Dealing with gut infections, bacterial, fungal and parasites.
  3. Rebuilding your healthy gut bacteria.
