Thyroid Antibodies: Why You Still Have Hashimoto’s

Thyroid antibodies – exactly what can you do if they are high?

High thyroid antibodies, also known as Hashimoto’s thyroid disease, is an auto-immune disease.

If left untreated over a long enough period of time, high thyroid antibodies can cause permanent damage to your thyroid gland.

This means that you’ll need to take thyroid replacement medication for the rest of your life.

So what can you do about your thyroid antibodies if they are elevated and so reverse your Hashimoto’s disease?

Thyroid Antibodies – Why Yours Are High

Suffering from a slow-acting thyroid gland is a tough experience especially when it’s due to Hashimoto’s disease.

This means that your Anti-TG or Anti-TPO antibodies are higher than 100.

One of the big problems is that most doctors are not interested in checking for the antibodies and instead are just happy to give you a prescription for thyroid medication.

The problem with high antibodies symptoms is that they typically won’t appear until your thyroid gland has suffered damage and then begins to produce fewer hormones.

The higher the level of thyroid antibodies, then the more damage is being done to your thyroid gland.

Therefore, if despite your best efforts you still have high thyroid antibodies/Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, then you really need to focus on these 3 key areas to help you put your Hashimoto’s thyroid disease into remission.

The first reason why your thyroid antibodies can still be high is that you’re still consuming “trigger foods” that cause an immune system reaction in your body.

These include:

  • Gluten-containing grains (barley, wheat, and rye)
  • Corn
  • Dairy products
  • Eggs
  • Legumes
  • Pseudo grains, like quinoa and buckwheat, can still cause a reaction
  • Nightshades plant foods so things like white potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplants
  • Nuts and seeds can also be an issue as well for some people

Hi Julia, I have Hashimoto’s and I tried the 80/10/10 diet for several months to heal my stomach because everything seems to bloat me except for organic, gluten free oatmeal. I soon suspected a fructose intolerance and even SIBO I have heard for years that I have IBS. 80/10/10 only seemed to increase digestive issues and bloating for me. FODMAPS seem to cause problems for me. Is it possible for fruit to be a trigger food that causes an immune system reaction in my body??

SIBO is a very specific condition, with our clients, some were not able to eat much fruit to start with, until they healed it.
