Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism is the most common form of hypothyroidism in the United States and affects over 6 million people.
If you suffer from Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism yourself and you’re a lady, then it might be of some comfort to know that women are 10 times more likely to suffer from a thyroid-related problem than men.
There is a big problem though when it comes to getting a Hashimoto’s thyroiditis diagnosis because many doctors typically don’t test for it.
Considering how many people with hypothyroidism will also have Hashimoto’s disease this state of affairs is shocking.
This of course means that many people will not receive any Hashimoto’s thyroiditis treatment when they actually need it.
The bigger problem with suffering from an autoimmune condition like Hashimoto’s is that it can increase your risk of developing other autoimmune conditions and some of these could be life-threatening.
This is where I was for many years with my own Hashimotos and a failing thyroid that was under attack from my own immune system.
This situation could have been avoided by my doctor ordering a simple blood test to check if I had Hashimotos or not.
Instead, I suffered from the symptoms of Hashimoto’s flare-up without knowing what they were being caused by for many years.
This eventually led me down a path of personal research searching for Hashimoto’s symptoms, Hashimoto’s treatment, Hashimotos and gluten, and Hashimoto’s disease diet.
One of the main priorities for people with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism is lowering inflammation.
